Baseball Game Preview: St. Rita Mustangs vs. Reavis Rams

St. Rita has gone a perfect 4-0 against Reavis recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Mustangs are taking a road trip to square off against the Rams at 1:30 p.m. St. Rita is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.

St. Rita is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Illinois' top teams: Lane Tech, who was ranked 19th at the time (St. Rita was ranked 20th). The Mustangs skirted past the Champions 5-3. Winning may never get old, but the Mustangs sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Will Rewers tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April.

On the hitting side, St. Rita got a big performance out of Joe Camer, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Arteaga, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Reavis owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Thursday. They came out on top against Marian Catholic by a score of 5-0.

St. Rita's record is now 22-11. As for Reavis, their record now sits at an identical 22-11.

Everything went St. Rita's way against Reavis in their previous meeting back in June of 2023, as St. Rita made off with a 14-3 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
