Basketball Recap: Stockdale Comes Up Short

Stockdale lost against Centennial back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Stockdale Mustangs were outmatched by the Centennial Golden Hawks and fell 86-20. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 920th, while the Golden Hawks are ranked 127th).

Leading Centennial to victory were Shekinah (Kai) Shaw and Laker Shaw. Shekinah (Kai) almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine assists, while Laker went 7 for 13 from beyond the arc en route to 28 points and five assists. Those 28 points gave Laker a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Keke Shaw, who went 5 of 10 on her way to 13 points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Stockdale dropped their record down to 5-11 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Centennial, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 13-5.

Stockdale has already played their next game (against Liberty), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Centennial will head out on the road to face off against Frontier at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Centennial is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 64.8 points per game this season.
