Recap: New Harvest Christian Warriors vs. Southwestern Academy Sun
The New Harvest Christian Warriors were the 41-14 winner over the Southwestern Academy Sun when they last played one another on January 9th, but their luck changed this time around. New Harvest Christian fell 39-29 to Southwestern Academy on Thursday.
Southwestern Academy had a senior duo take command as Marifer Durand almost dropped a triple-double on nine points, nine rebounds, and 11 steals and Michelle Fakrogha scored 15 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Fakrogha has scored all season. Valza Jusufi was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds.
New Harvest Christian's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Southwestern Academy, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-9.
New Harvest Christian will head out on the road to square off against Waverly at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Waverly comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 16 points in their last six games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. Southwestern Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against International School of Los Angeles at 4:00 p.m. on January 26th. International School of Los Angeles is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
