Recap: Morningside Monarchs vs. Leuzinger Olympians
After a string of five wins, the Morningside Monarchs's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 76-19 loss at the hands of Leuzinger. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Morningside in their matchups with Leuzinger: they've now lost six in a row.
Leuzinger's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dresha Moore led the charge by dropping a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. The matchup was Moore's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Leah Sarabia was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with eight assists and three steals.
Morningside's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Leuzinger, they pushed their record up to 15-3 with that victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.
Morningside will head out on the road to face off against Beverly Hills at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Leuzinger won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Oak Park at 4:00 p.m. on January 6th. One thing working in Oak Park's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four games.
