Soccer Game Preview: Mountain House vs. Sierra

Mountain House is 0-3 against Sierra since December of 2023 but things could change on Monday. The Mountain House Mustangs will head out to challenge the Sierra Timberwolves at 6:15 p.m. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Mountain House managed to keep up with Oakdale until halftime on Wednesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Mountain House came up short against Oakdale, falling 3-0. While losing is never fun, Mountain House can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 805th, while Oakdale is ranked 300th).

Meanwhile, Sierra waltzed into their game on Wednesday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. Their defense stepped up to hand the Tigers a 1-0 shutout. The Timberwolves' winning goal came courtesy of Hailey Cruz.

Sierra has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-3-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 39 goals over those 11 contests. As for Mountain House, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-12-8.

Mountain House might still be hurting after the 6-2 loss they got from Sierra in their previous matchup back in January. Can Mountain House avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
