Baseball Game Preview: Marion County Eagles vs. Pike County Pirates

The Marion County Eagles will face off against the Pike County Pirates at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Friday just wasn't the day for Marion County's offense. They fell just short of Taylor County by a score of 2-0 on Friday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pike County). Everything went their way against Rutland on Monday as they made off with a 22-7 victory. The win continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Hurricanes: they've now won nine in a row.

Marion County has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-15-1 record this season. As for Pike County, their victory bumped their record up to 11-13.

Marion County came out on top in a nail-biter against Pike County when the teams last played back in February, sneaking past 2-0. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Pirates have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
