Basketball Game Preview: Salesian College Preparatory Pride vs. Perry Pumas

The Salesian College Preparatory Pride will be taking part in a tournament against the Perry Pumas at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Salesian College Preparatory is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54 points per game this season.

Salesian College Preparatory is headed into the matchup having just posted their closest win since January 11th on Saturday. They had just enough and edged San Joaquin Memorial out 45-42.

It was another big night for Janiya Sawyer, who posted 14 points along with five boards and five steals. Sawyer is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamia Sawyer, who had nine points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Perry can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They secured a 56-51 W over Vanden.

Salesian College Preparatory's record is now 7-3. As for Perry, their record now sits at 7-9.

Things could have been worse for Salesian College Preparatory, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 55-37 loss to Perry in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Perry's Novelle Mcquiston, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds.
