Soccer Game Preview: Swainsboro vs. Wheeler County

The Swainsboro Tigers will head out to challenge the Wheeler County Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Swainsboro's last four matchups have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

While Swainsboro didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was Swainsboro who was credited with the win on Tuesday. Their winning goal came courtesy of Cristian Garcia.

On Tuesday, Wheeler County narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Hawkinsville 2-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.

Swainsboro's record now sits at 5-2. As for Wheeler County, their record now sits at 2-3.

Swainsboro came out on top in a nail-biter against Wheeler County when the teams last played back in February of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Swainsboro since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
