Softball Recap: South Cobb Takes a Loss

After flying high against Pebblebrook on Tuesday, South Cobb came back down to earth. The Eagles fell just short of the Langston Hughes Panthers by a score of 14-13 on Wednesday. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

Janiya Fields was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 5-for-5 with eight stolen bases, five runs, and one triple. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.4 stolen bases per game. Kennedi Williams was another key player, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI.

South Cobb's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Langston Hughes, their record now sits at 2-5.

Coming up, South Cobb will head out on the road to challenge Pebblebrook at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Langston Hughes, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Morrow at 6:00 p.m. The Mustangs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 17.2 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
