Softball Recap: Palmer Ridge Continues Home Dominance on Friday

With a playoff win on the line, Palmer Ridge rose to the challenge on Friday. They skirted past the Ponderosa Mustangs 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bears have posted since September 22nd.

Pam Boyarko was excellent, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in September. Corinna Arellano was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Palmer Ridge hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ponderosa struck out nine times.

Palmer Ridge's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Ponderosa, they now have a losing record of 13-14.

Coming up, Palmer Ridge will square off against Pueblo Central at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bears' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 8.5 runs per game this season. Ponderosa does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
