Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Addison Phillips and Kimora Roberts Lead Hickory to Victory

There's no place like home for Hickory, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They walked away with a 44-37 victory over the Mercer Mustangs on Friday. For the Hornets, this counts as revenge for the 36-33 win the Mustangs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.

Hickory was led to victory by Kimora Roberts and Addison Phillips. Roberts dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds, while Phillips posted 17 points. With that strong performance, Roberts is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game.

Hickory smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in eight consecutive matchups.

Hickory's victory bumped their record up to 2-6. As for Mercer, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hickory won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Neshannock at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Neshannock will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Hickory surely won't give up without a fight. As for Mercer, they will also get right back to it: they'll square off against Maplewood at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
