Superior Central extended their losing streak to seven on Monday, dropping them down to 6-12. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost an 11-9 heartbreaker at the hands of the Marquette Redmen. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Cougars have suffered since May 30, 2025.

Superior Central saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brandon Boyak, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. The Cougars are 2-1 when Boyak posts two or more runs, but 4-11 otherwise. Another was Eli Valima, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.
As for Marquette, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-11. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since May 27, 2025.
On Marquette's side, Desmond Gleason made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Gleason was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Jonas Snapp looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Easton Jezewski, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Wes Robinson, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Superior Central will square off against North Central at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Jets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.8 runs per game on average), something the Cougars will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Marquette, they will challenge Menominee at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
