Preview: McConnellsburg Spartans vs. Shade Panthers
McConnellsburg is on a five-game streak of home losses, Shade a nine-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The McConnellsburg Spartans will take on the Shade Panthers at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Back in January, McConnellsburg was beaten by Forbes Road 52-22. McConnellsburg was down 43-16 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Meanwhile, Shade had to suffer through a rough 75-29 loss at the hands of Blacklick Valley. Shade was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 50-15.
McConnellsburg has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season. As for Shade, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-19.
McConnellsburg was taken down by Shade 55-21 when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Thankfully for McConnellsburg, Jenna Muha (who almost dropped a triple-double on 31 points, 12 rebounds, and nine steals) won't be suiting up this time.
