Basketball Game Preview: Central Grizzlies vs. Clovis West Golden Eagles

Central is 0-10 against Clovis West since January of 2020 but things could change on Tuesday. The Central Grizzlies will face off against the Clovis West Golden Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Central sitting on five straight victories and Clovis West on 24.

Central will bounce into Tuesday's contest after beating Clovis, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Central had just enough and edged Clovis out 63-61. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Grizzlies have posted since February 29, 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than Illicia Ross, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds. Those 19 points gave Ross a new career-high. Savana Chase was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 12 boards.

Meanwhile, Clovis West faced Pinewood in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. Clovis West snuck past Pinewood with a 54-50 victory. The 54-point effort marked the Golden Eagles' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Central is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.0 points per game. As for Clovis West, their record now sits at 24-0.

Central was taken down by Clovis West 61-22 in their previous matchup on January 10th. Can Central avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
