Wausa unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell 52-43 to the Plainview Pirates on Friday. The Vikings haven't had much luck with the Pirates recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Several Vikings players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Taylor Dawson, who posted 19 points. Another player making a difference was Reagan Gillilan, who earned eight points along with nine boards and four steals.

Plainview found their leader in freshman Pressley Alexander, who went 10-for-16 to rack up 29 points and four steals. Riley Miller was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with nine points and 12 rebounds.

The victory got Plainview back to even at 1-1.

Wausa didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 45-44 win against Boyd County on the 6th. As for Plainview, they will challenge Humphrey-Lindsay on Tuesday.
