Baseball Recap: Gloucester County Tech Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Gloucester County Tech can now relate to. They fell just short of the Cherokee Chiefs by a score of 8-7 on Thursday. Gloucester County Tech was not able to make up for their defeat to Cherokee from their previous meeting back in April of 2021.

Alex Valay was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April.

On the hitting side, Stephan Green made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. Another player making a difference was Maison Gray, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Gloucester County Tech has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-11-1 record this season. As for Cherokee, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-13.

Gloucester County Tech does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Cherokee has already played their next matchup (against Cherry Hill East), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
