Eagle River hasn't had much luck against Service recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Wolves will square off against the Cougars at 5:30 p.m. Eagle River has given up an average of 14.5 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Eagle River is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alaska's top teams: West Anchorage, who was ranked 14th at the time (Eagle River was ranked 24th). The Wolves lost 19-4 to the Eagles on Saturday.
Tristan Youngblood was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and two doubles. Those RBI were his first of the season.
Chugiak typically has all the answers at home, but on Saturday Service proved too difficult a challenge. They blew past the Mustangs 18-4. Considering the Cougars have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Service got a massive performance out of Kegan Lennox, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most hits Lennox has posted since back in May of 2025. Sage Garsha was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Service always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .650. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Service pushed their record up to 13-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Eagle River, their loss dropped their record down to 0-10-1.
Eagle River suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Service in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Wolves avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
