Softball Recap: Albany Comes Up Short

Albany was the 4-1 winner over Lathrop when they last played one another two weeks ago, but their luck changed this time around. The Warriors fell just short of the Mules by a score of 8-7 on Saturday.

Makena Moffat put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, Jayden Hillyard made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Whitney Sterkis, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Albany has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 24-7 record this season. As for Lathrop, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.

Looking ahead, Albany will face off against East Buchanan at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Lathrop does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
