The Shafter Generals will face off against the Sierra Chieftains at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Shafter is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.
Shafter is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over Dos Palos. The Generals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by six runs or more this season.

Henry Wiebe spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Shafter's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Andy Gomez, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Noah Bill was another, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Tuesday Sierra sidestepped Yosemite for a 6-4 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Chieftains.
Wyatt Young made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Young was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Zach Lloyd was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Daniel Blue, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double.
Sierra was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.
Sierra's win bumped their record up to 22-8. As for Shafter, their victory bumped their record up to 18-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Shafter has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Sierra struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Shafter suffered a grim 23-2 defeat to Sierra in their previous meeting back in March of 2016. Will the Generals have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
