Softball Recap: Pueblo East Eagles vs. Lamar Thunder

After flying high against Canon City on Tuesday, Pueblo East came back down to earth. The Eagles fell just short of the Lamar Thunder by a score of 6-5 on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 13-9 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Amilyana Chavez was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Yeslynn Granillo, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Pueblo East's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Lamar, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-4.

Pueblo East wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 4-3 victory against Falcon on the 5th. As for Lamar, they will venture away from home to face off against La Junta at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be the Thunder's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
