Soccer Game Preview: Woodland vs. East Paulding

The Woodland Wildcats will square off against the East Paulding Raiders at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Woodland will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more goals each match than the last.

It was a proper cat-fight when Woodland duked it out with Adairsville last Thursday. The Wildcats blew past the Tigers 8-1. Woodland haven't had any issues with Adairsville recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Woodland hit Adairsville with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Edwin Vazquez (3), Aiden Carrillo (3), Danny Chavez, and Mason Day.

Meanwhile, East Paulding came into Thursday's game having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. While the 4-4 score might suggest a draw, it was the Raiders who were credited with the win last Thursday. East Paulding got it done in the shootout by posting six goals to Allatoona's five. The victory was all the more spectacular given East Paulding's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 185th, while Allatoona are ranked 41st).

Woodland pushed their record up to 5-10 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three contests. As for East Paulding, their win bumped their record up to 6-7.

Everything went Woodland's way against East Paulding in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as Woodland made off with a 6-1 victory. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Raiders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
