League recap: Holy Ground Baptist Academy leads league with five wins since last week

Top honors in the league this week go to Holy Ground Baptist Academy, which finished with five wins overall, good for best in the league.

Independent Christian Schools of GA/AL - 1A North's top pitcher this week was Westminster Christian Academy's Berkley Kirsche. He retired ten batters this week.

The Lions boasted the best pitching over the past week, holding opponents to the league's fewest hits and issuing the fewest walks.

The Stallions had trouble finding a groove at the plate as a team this week, racking up a league-leading 47 strikeouts. The league's worst in that category with 47 strikeouts on the season are Holy Ground Baptist Academy.

Seven batters hit over .400 this week. Leading the pack was Joe Zehna, who hit .667 by going 4-for-6.

Westminster Christian Academy's Kirsche finished his week with six hits, the best slugger in the league. His ten hits for the year are second in the league, and he boasts a .526 batting average.



Kirsche led the Lions to a win on March 21, as he notched ten strikeouts to beat Killian Hill Christian, 8-7. Over his three innings pitched he allowed three runs on four hits.

Zack Daniell threw a shutout as he led Westminster Christian Academy to victory over Praise Academy, 10-0, on Tuesday. He pitched five scoreless innings and struck out four, while giving up one hit.
