Austin hasn't had much luck against Eastern recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Eagles will look to defend their home field against the Musketeers at 5:30 p.m. Austin is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.4 runs per game this season.
On Wednesday, Austin didn't have quite enough to beat Springs Valley and fell 10-9.
Teagan Cutshall and Julia Harris stepped up to the plate in a big way. Cutshall went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Harris got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one double. That home run was Cutshall's first of the season. Emma Ousley was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Eastern). They came out on top in a nail-biter against Paoli on Friday, sneaking past 16-14. The victory continues a trend for the Musketeers in their matchups with the Rams: they've now won five in a row.
Eastern let Adriana Dolleris and Allie Johanningsmeier run wild. Dolleris went 1-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one double, while Johanningsmeier got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two runs gave Dolleris a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Heath, who went 1-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Eastern was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Eastern's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-7. As for Austin, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.
Austin couldn't quite get it done against Eastern in their previous meeting back in May of 2025 as they fell 6-1. Will the Eagles have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
