Baseball Game Preview: East Laurens Falcons vs. Washington County Golden Hawks

The East Laurens Falcons will face off against the Washington County Golden Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as East Laurens comes in on three and Washington County on six.

On Friday, East Laurens got the win against Southwest by a conclusive 12-6.

Grayson Edge made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Kaden Mimbs and Nollan Scott did most of the damage at the plate: Mimbs scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3, while Scott scored three runs and stole five bases while going 2-for-3. Those three runs gave Scott a new career-high. Bryson Lampp was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Washington County posted their closest win since February 25th on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Dodge County 7-5.

Washington County pushed their record up to 14-5 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for East Laurens, their win bumped their record up to 8-10.

East Laurens came up short against Washington County in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 6-1. Can East Laurens avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
