Football Recap: Fresno Comes Up Short

Fresno fell victim to McLane and their airtight defense on Friday. They were dealt a 42-0 loss at the hands of the Highlanders. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 892nd, while the Highlanders are ranked 331st).

McLane found their leader in sophomore Juan Raygoza, who picked up four sacks and made 12 total tackles (10.5 for loss). Demetrius Simon was another key player, picking up 45 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Fresno's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for McLane, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Looking ahead, Fresno will take on Hoover at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Warriors will be up against the Patriots' rather soft defense (which has allowed 27.25 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for McLane, they will square off against Torres at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Toros will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.
