Baseball Recap: Fair Haven Takes a Loss

Fair Haven extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 2-7. They lost 17-1 to the Otter Valley Otters. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Otters this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-0 back in April.

As for Otter Valley, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-1-1. That looming 17-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.

For Otter Valley's part, Jackson Howe made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Howe has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Nolan Quenneville was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Max Potter, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

Coincidentally, Fair Haven and Otter Valley will both be playing Hartford the next time they take the field. The Slaters will host the Hurricanes at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, while the Otters will host them at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
