Baseball Game Preview: Crystal Lake South Gators vs. Jacobs Eagles

The Crystal Lake South Gators will head out on the road to take on the Jacobs Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Crystal Lake South is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last five games.

Crystal Lake South proved they can win big on Friday (they won by eight) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Lakes 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Gators have posted since April 20th.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Jacobs, who bounced back after a loss on the road. They came out on top against Dundee-Crown by a score of 10-5 on Saturday. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Chargers: they've now won three in a row.

Jacobs let Jace Koth and Luke Flaskamp run wild. Koth went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles, while Flaskamp went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Flaskamp a new career-high. Braden Gasparaitis also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Crystal Lake South's victory bumped their record up to 18-7. As for Jacobs, their win bumped their record up to 17-8.

Crystal Lake South got the 'W' in their previous matchup on Friday against Jacobs by a conclusive 12-4 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Gators since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
