Volleyball Recap: Tatum Cranford and Karly Berrier Secure Win for Forbush

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Forbush and Surry Central have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Thursday. The Falcons narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Golden Eagles 3-2. The Falcons haven't had any issues with the Golden Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Forbush took Surry Central into a fifth set where they got it done with a three-point win. The final score came out to 25-13, 25-22, 23-25, 12-25, 15-12.

Forbush was led to victory by Karly Berrier and Tatum Cranford. Berrier had 21 digs and seven assists, while Cranford had 13 digs. Berrier is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 12 or more in each of the last eight games she's played.

Surry Central's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kenzie Hooker, who had 53 assists and 15 digs. Another player making a difference was Presley Smith, who had 18 digs, 11 kills, and five aces.

Forbush's victory bumped their record up to 11-7. As for Surry Central, the loss snapped their winning streak at five matches and leaves them with a 11-5 record.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Forbush will challenge rival North Surry at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Surry Central is set to square off against their familiar foe East Surry at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
