Recap: Rio Vista Rams vs. Winters Warriors
After flying high against the Buckingham Charter Knights on Monday, the Rio Vista Rams came back down to earth. Rio Vista had to suffer through a rough 50-18 loss at the hands of Winters. Having soared to a lofty 58 points in the game before, Rio Vista couldn't push the score so high this time.
Despite the loss, Rio Vista had strong showings from Guadalupe Valdenegro , who scored 3 points along with 3 steals, and Kenayah Banks , who scored 4 points along with 8 rebounds. Valdenegro is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
Among those leading the charge was Jordan Tucker, who scored 10 points. Another player making a difference was Ahtzire Figueroa, who scored 7 points.
Rio Vista now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Winters, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Rio Vista will square off against Pioneer at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Pioneer presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Rio Vista in California (Pioneer is ranked 441st, while Rio Vista is ranked 991st). As for Winters, they will square off against River Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully River Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday.
