Basketball Recap: Woodland Christian Extends Winning Streak to 24

With a playoff win on the line, Woodland Christian rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Argonaut Mustangs 65-36. The Cardinals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 21 matches by 25 points or more this season.

Teagan Hayes continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 10-for-21 en route to 23 points in addition to six assists and four steals. She has been hot, having posted four or more steals the last eight times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Keziah Maldonado-Lemus, who went 5-for-8 on her way to 10 points along with eight assists and five steals.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Woodland Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. They are 26-2 when they've passed the ball that well.

When it comes to explaining why Argonaut lost, don't look at Alayna Critchfield. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with ten points and 15 rebounds. Kaylee Avila was another key player, putting up ten points and five boards.

The victory was the 24th in a row for Woodland Christian, bringing their record for this year to 26-5. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 21.8 points over those games. As for Argonaut, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 19-12.

Looking ahead, Woodland Christian will take on Bret Harte at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. One thing working in Woodland Christian's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 15 games. Argonaut does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
