Softball Recap: Montgomery County Snaps 13-Game Streak of Losses at Home

After only two runs in their last contest, Montgomery County made sure to put some runs up on the board against McIntosh County Academy on Wednesday. The Eagles walked away with an 11-6 win over the Buccaneers. This was a revenge game for the Eagles: when they faced off against the Buccaneers last Monday, they had to take a 14-13 defeat.

Bailey Fountain made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five). She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Montgomery County let Grace Richardson and Alexis Reaves run wild. Richardson went 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base, while Reaves went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Makailah Moore, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.

Montgomery County's victory ended a 13-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-10. As for McIntosh County Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.
