Softball Recap: Tuesday's Loss Ends Ridgeland's Winning Streak

Ridgeland dropped down to 3-2 on Tuesday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell 7-3 to the Heritage Generals. The Panthers were not able to make up for their loss to the Generals from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.

Chesney Pritchett spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits.

On the hitting side, Alaina Shaver was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI.

As for Heritage, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games.

On Heritage's side, Bailee Hollis was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts Hollis has posted since back in September of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

In other batting news, Landry White was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season.

Looking ahead, Heritage will host Ringgold at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Ridgeland will be paying especially close attention to the Generals' contest: after the Generals face off against the Tigers, they'll take on Ridgeland again at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
