Softball Recap: Denver East Takes a Loss

After flying high against Adams City last Friday, Denver East came back down to earth. The Angels came up short against the Vista PEAK Prep Bison on Thursday, falling 19-12. The Angels were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bison earlier this season, when they won 14-9.

Angeli Zavala Benavente was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Emmy Lang, who went 2-for-5 with three runs and one RBI.

Denver East has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season. As for Vista PEAK Prep, they moved to 4-8 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Coming up, Denver East will challenge Northfield at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Vista PEAK Prep, they will head out to face off against Mullen at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Bison's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season.
