Football Game Preview: St. Francis Golden Knights vs. Paraclete Spirits

The St. Francis Golden Knights will venture away from home to challenge the Paraclete Spirits at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Francis will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last.

St. Francis took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They claimed a resounding 38-6 win over Bishop Alemany. The Golden Knights' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Elijah Wilson was a one-man wrecking crew as he rushed for 87 yards and four scores. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Mason Maddox, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.

Meanwhile, while it was Paraclete who put the first points on the board on Friday, it was Cathedral who put up more. The Spirits lost 49-28 to the Phantoms. The Spirits' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Joseph Mesa and Jaden Jefferson. Jefferson had a great game and threw for 378 yards and four touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes. Meanwhile, Mesa was balling out in the loss, throwing for 293 yards and four TDs, while also rushing for 67 yards.

Paraclete's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-2. As for St. Francis, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-7.

St. Francis was able to grind out a solid win over Paraclete when the teams last played back in October of 2024, winning 39-30. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Golden Knights since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
