Recap: Walnut Mustangs vs. South Hills Huskies
The Walnut Mustangs won the last time they faced the South Hills Huskies, and things went their way on Thursday too. Walnut snuck past South Hills with a 42-37 win. The win made it back-to-back wins for Walnut.
Walnut got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Claire Olia out in front who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Maileeh Suasti, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Walnut pushed their record up to 13-8 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.8 points per game. As for South Hills, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Walnut won't have much time to rest: their next game is against California at 5:00 p.m. on January 12th. California will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. As for South Hills, they will be playing at home against Diamond Bar at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
