Basketball Recap: West Philadelphia Comes Up Short

West Philadelphia lost against Academy at Palumbo back in February of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The West Philadelphia Speedboys fell to the Academy at Palumbo Griffin 47-42.

Despite the loss, West Philadelphia still got an impressive performance from Victoria Williams, who en route to 14 points and five assists. What's more, Williams also posted a 67% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in December of 2024. Badji Tall was another key player, putting up seven points and eight boards.

West Philadelphia's defeat dropped their record down to 18-7. As for Academy at Palumbo, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.

West Philadelphia will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Nazareth Academy at 6:00 p.m. on February 25th. As for Academy at Palumbo, they have already played their next game, a 62-18 defeat against Imhotep Charter on the 20th.
