Softball Recap: West Platte Beats Plattsburg for Their Sixth Straight Victory

West Platte barely beat Plattsburg the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bluejays put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 8-2 win on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Bluejays, who have now won four contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Sophie Grier made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in October of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Molly Cline, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in September of 2024. Addy Hughes also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

West Platte was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Plattsburg only posted a batting average of .120.

The victory was the sixth in a row for West Platte, bringing their record up to 7-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Plattsburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. West Platte will take on Mid-Buchanan at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Plattsburg, they will challenge Lathrop at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
