Softball Recap: Widefield Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Widefield can now relate to. They took a 12-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Frederick Golden Eagles on Friday. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Gladiators, who until this contest were averaging 3.89 runs allowed.

Evelyn Ibarra led a balanced group of hitters, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Mia Hoffpauir was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Widefield's loss dropped their record down to 23-4. As for Frederick, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season.

Widefield does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Frederick, they have already played their next game, a 10-4 defeat against Holy Family on the 24th.
