Preview: Mater Dei Catholic vs. Olympian
The Mater Dei Catholic Crusaders will head out on the road to take on the Olympian Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither Mater Dei Catholic nor Olympian posted many goals in their last games, so it might be the defenses that decide this one.
Wednesday just wasn't the day for Mater Dei Catholic's offense. They fell just short of Eastlake by a score of 1-0. While getting shut out isn't ideal, Mater Dei Catholic has not been shut out since back in December of 2023.
Meanwhile, Olympian also failed to score in their most recent game. They suffered a tough 7-0 defeat at the hands of Eastlake on Friday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Olympian in their matchups with Eastlake: they've now lost four in a row.
Mater Dei Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 6-4-5. As for Olympian, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-5-6 record this season.
Mater Dei Catholic came up short against Olympian when the teams last played back in January, falling 3-1. Can Mater Dei Catholic avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
