Basketball Recap: Venice Gondoliers vs. Fairfax Lions

Venice was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 56-51 heartbreaker at the hands of the Fairfax Lions. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Gondoliers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 39-37 two weeks ago.

Fairfax found their leader in sophomore Mila Spencer, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Petty-Wright, who posted ten points along with seven boards and three steals.

Venice's record now sits at 5-17. As for Fairfax, their victory bumped their record up to 8-5.

Venice wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 59-24 loss against Rolling Hills Prep on the 30th. As for Fairfax, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Palisades at 4:30 p.m.
