Softball Recap: Platte Valley Takes a Loss

Platte Valley dropped down to 10-10 on Thursday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Resurrection Christian Cougars, falling 15-4. If the Broncos were looking for revenge after losing 20-0 to the Cougars when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Landree Edstrom led a balanced group of hitters, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played.

As for Resurrection Christian, they moved to 7-9 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak. The high-scoring effort was just what they needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

On Resurrection Christian's side, Jailah Hamilton made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Hamilton was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Olivia Martinez, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since back in August. Another player making a difference was Portia Hattig, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Platte Valley will challenge rival Eaton at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Resurrection Christian is set to face off against their familiar foe University at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
