Baseball Recap: Marshfield Comes Up Short

Marshfield extended their losing streak to seven on Monday, dropping them down to 9-12. They came up short against the Junction City Tigers, falling 12-2. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Pirates of the 17-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.

Marshfield saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Logan Shipman, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was Shipman's first of the season.

As for Junction City, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 15-5. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by six runs or more this season.

On Junction City's side, Conner Clift made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Clift has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madix Waldrop, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Bryson Rodriguez, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and two RBI.

While Marshfield had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
