Baseball Game Preview: Statesboro Blue Devils vs. Brunswick Pirates

The Statesboro Blue Devils will head out on the road to take on the Brunswick Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Statesboro will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Last Friday, it was close, but Statesboro sidestepped Tattnall County for a 5-3 victory.

Meanwhile, Brunswick has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.21 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Friday. They came up short against South Effingham, falling 13-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Pirates have suffered since February 26th.

Statesboro's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-10. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Brunswick, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-8.

Statesboro came out on top in a nail-biter against Brunswick in their previous meeting back in March of 2022, sneaking past 12-11. The rematch might be a little tougher for Statesboro since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
