Basketball Game Preview: Poway Titans vs. Carlsbad Lancers

The Poway Titans are taking a road trip to challenge the Carlsbad Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Poway is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.

Last Friday, Poway opened the new year with a less-than-successful 48-35 loss to Aliso Niguel.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Carlsbad). They blew past Eastlake 79-19 on Wednesday. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Lancers with their most commanding win of the season.

Carlsbad pushed their record up to 7-8 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.8 points per game. As for Poway, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-11.

Poway won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, slipping by Carlsbad 47-46. The rematch might be a little tougher for Poway since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
