Basketball Game Preview: Nevada Union Miners vs. River Valley Falcons

The Nevada Union Miners will challenge the River Valley Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Nevada Union is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.

Last Wednesday, Nevada Union came up short against Yuba City and fell 41-31.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Ava Ban, who posted 13 points in addition to seven rebounds and six steals. That's the most steals she has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Sarah Schnitzius, who scored five points.

Meanwhile, River Valley suffered their biggest defeat since December 7, 2024 on Wednesday. They were dealt a 69-27 loss at the hands of Placer. The Falcons haven't had much luck with the Hillmen recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Like Nevada Union, River Valley lost despite seeing results from several players. Sukhman Kandola led the charge by putting up seven points.

Nevada Union's defeat dropped their record down to 4-13. As for River Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 10-12.

Nevada Union ended up a good deal behind River Valley in their previous matchup on January 3rd, losing 48-31. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of River Valley's Avneeth Gill, who went 6 for 9 en route to 13 points along with seven boards and six assists.
