Preview: Futures Knights vs. Delta Saints
After two games on the road, Futures is heading back home. They will take on the Delta Saints at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Last Friday, Futures came up short against Forest Lake Christian and fell 40-31. Futures has struggled against Forest Lake Christian recently, as their match on Friday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Nikka Vinokurov, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and six steals. Vinokurov is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Emma Kharchenko, who scored nine points along with 17 rebounds.
Delta suffered their biggest defeat since December 9, 2023 on Friday. They were beaten by Woodland Christian 51-17. Delta was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 24-3.
Futures has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost nine of their last 11 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. As for Delta, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-8.
Futures might still be hurting after the 52-27 loss they got from Delta when the teams last played back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Delta's Ayren Rapp, who almost dropped a triple-double on 20 points, 17 rebounds, and nine steals.
