Baseball Game Preview: Cherokee Bluff Bears vs. Oconee County Warriors

The Cherokee Bluff Bears will face off against the Oconee County Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Cherokee Bluff comes in on nine and Oconee County on three.

On Friday, Cherokee Bluff made easy work of Jefferson and carried off a 13-5 win. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won nine matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Landon Kemp was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other pitching news, Nate Wilson looked comfortable as he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Kaden Thompson, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Wilkerson, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Cherokee Bluff was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, Oconee County was not the first on the board on Friday, but they got there more often. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past West Hall 7-5.

Cherokee Bluff's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-8. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Oconee County, their win bumped their record up to 16-5.
