Recap: Magnolia Science Academy Pirates vs. Samueli Academy Firewolves
The Magnolia Science Academy Pirates lost against the Samueli Academy Firewolves back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Magnolia Science Academy suffered a tough 51-26 defeat at the hands of Samueli Academy. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Magnolia Science Academy in their matchups with Samueli Academy: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the loss, Magnolia Science Academy saw an underclassman step up: Elvira Chavez Trujillo scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was Frida Cortez, who scored five points.
Genavivie Medrano was her usual excellent self, scoring 17 points for Samueli Academy. Kennedy Cortez was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Magnolia Science Academy's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Samueli Academy, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-2.
Magnolia Science Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Vista Meridian at 4:00 p.m. on January 12, 2024. As for Samueli Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Los Amigos at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
