Baseball Game Preview: Veterans Warhawks vs. West Laurens Raiders

The Veterans Warhawks will take on the West Laurens Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Veterans has given up an average of 6.7 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Veterans came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 17-9 to Peach County.

Meanwhile, West Laurens made easy work of Baldwin on Tuesday and carried off an 11-1 win. Considering the Raiders have won 13 matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Veterans has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-15 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for West Laurens, their victory bumped their record up to 14-10.

Everything went Veterans' way against West Laurens in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as Veterans made off with an 11-3 win. Will the Warhawks repeat their success, or do the Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
