Volleyball Recap: Houston Hurricanes vs. Mabel-Canton Cougars
If Houston was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Schaeffer Academy last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Hurricanes came up short against the Mabel-Canton Cougars on Tuesday, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 on September 4th.
The match finished with set scores of 25-9, 25-15, 25-12.
Jorja Meyer paced Houston's offense, picking up five kills. Meyer got some help from Olivia Yohe and her eight assists. Meyer was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.
Mabel-Canton got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Lauren Burke out in front who had five aces and four digs. Those five aces gave Burke a new career-high.
Houston's defeat dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Mabel-Canton, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 24-3.
Houston wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-1 victory against Kingsland on the 2nd. As for Mabel-Canton, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Glenville-Emmons on the 2nd.
